Are you a planner?

Yesterday I had book club over at my house. We had wonderful treats (thanks Kaijsa!) and a wonderful time discussing "The Secret Life of Bees." This was our third book club and I think it was a total success mainly because everyone that comes actually reads the books, and then (here's a crazy thought) we actually discussed the book. A couple of months ago, I decided to start book club because I thought it might be fun to read some good books and have at least one "girl's night" a month. Everyone said what a great idea that was and how they are so glad I started it. So back to my question, what makes someone a planner and others the attenders? You know when you move into a ward and you meet people and they say "Yeah, we should do something." How many actually follow up on that request? I can't tell you how many people have said, "Yeah, we should do something, or we should have you guys over sometime" and then never follow through. Don't worry, I've done it too. But most of the time, we are the ones to say, "yah, let's do something, how about this weekend." Without fail, everyone is grateful when we do the planning or host a game night, but some never choose to do it themselves. So I really want to know, are you a planner or an attender and why? Both are great, the planners need the attenders and the attenders need the planners so it all works out. But for those that are attenders, I challenge you to burst out of that following shell and invite someone over OR go wild and have a game night. Bug people about coming and remind people to death and you'll have an awesome turn out! It would sure be a nice break for us planners! (although I do love planning and hosting things so I don't think that'll ever change)

I'm a planner. If we don't invite people to our home, we never get together. I have only one other friend that is a planner--that'sMargaret--she will invite me to do things and she will plan get togethers. We are rarely invited to someone's house for anything. It's weird.

Totally the planners. Kent and I both enjoy sharing our home with others. We have a game night about once a month (sadly we don't "plan" it's more like impromptu at church). Other couples were the planners when we moved into the ward and we realized that no one was left to plan but us. We are always amazed that no one else seems to want to take the reins. I am also amazed that once I bailed out on play group that fizzled out. I love being the planner, but I would love to be the attendee too, and on the rare occasion it does happen I REALLY enjoy it. All I care about is the getting together.

TOTALLY a planner. Must run in the family!! Glad you talked about "Attenders" because, as a planner, sometimes I feel like others don't care about us becuase they never invite us to do anything, you know??? Planners can have the bad rap. BUT, most of the time, we're OK and realize that there are people that just don't plan things and would sit at home if there weren't any planners around. That's how I console myself.

I've been both. In the early years a planner, mid years attender and sadly later years stayer homer.
