Little milestones

Sometimes it's not the big things in life that matter, but the small and simple things. The other day Kaylin finally learned how to strap herself into her carseat all by herself! Now as a mother of two this is a huge milestone! This means that now I only have to strap one kid in and not two. That also means that it cuts down my "getting the kids in the car" by minutes. Now maybe if she can wipe her "bunda" (bum in Portuguese- really it's such a cooler word to use) by herself, life would be complete--for now!

Guest blogger: Phil at the Giants Game

I figured since Phil went last weekend with his buddies to the Giants game, that he would talk all about it...So (drum roll please) here's Phil:

Wow, I'm so honored to be a featured guest. I guess that only doing this once in a while will not get my man-card pulled from me. As most of you know, I am an avid sports fan and always have been since I was a kid. Regardless of how horrible they have been lately, I am definitely a faithful Giants fan, so when I had the opportunity to go to one of their games this past weekend, I definitely jumped on the chance and went. Now when you go to a game, there are a few things I found that never change.
#1: Bums. I have found that the bums have become quite good at their panhandling skills. They are now hilarious and will come up with creative signs to lure suckers to laugh and give them money, which I ended up doing. Because this is a "blog friendly" post, I will not repeat what a bum had written on his sign, nevertheless, he deserved the money for it (If you really want to see it, just let me know and I'll send it to you). I also saw a bum who had crutches and was asking for money. At the end of the day, he got on his bike and rode off into the SF filth, quite proud of himself for once again using his brain to make poor saps feel sorry for him and taking advantage of their generosity.
#2: Garlic Fries: AT&T park is well known for their garlic fries so if you go, you absolutely need to get them. They are fabulous! So what if they are $6.75 for something that should only cost $2.00? So what if you can feel the cholesterol pumping through your veins? It is definitely worth it and I would do it again. Get the fries!
#3: Giants dugout store and overpricing: Every time I go to a sporting event, I try to project the amount of money that I will spend from the time that I get into the car to the time that I get home. I have found that it is literally IMPOSSIBLE to do this. Usually you'll stop somewhere between your home and the event to get some sort of snack and beverage(for me, it's usually a trip to see Dr P., right Becca?). Then, parking, tickets, another beverage (a.k.a. another trip to see Dr.P) snacks, souvenir's, and finally gas! I might as well just empty my bank account each time I go because that's what it feels like.

When I left, Becca said that I better bring her home something for ditching her for the whole day and night with the kids. With this in mind, I went to the Giant's dugout store with a quest to find something (cute) for Becca and Kaylin. I have found that the time to go to the dugout store is not right after a game, but before or during it. 50 minutes later and with much less money than I started with, we were finally on our way back. What was nice about this is that when I got home to an exhausted wife who had the look on her face like "you are dead," nothing spread sunshine and happiness like handing her a great looking Giants shirt. I'm sure that is exactly what she wanted to see. How could a Giants shirt not bring a smile to anyones face?

To make a long story short, the Giants ended up winning with Barry Zito pitching (Yes, Barry Zito!) and we had a great time. One thing that will never get old is going to a baseball game and I cannot wait to be able to take the rest of my family next time!

If it's not one thing, it's another...

On Monday we went to the doctor's office to see how Kaylin is doing with all the colon problems. She's been on this prebiotic supplement for the last 3-4 months and it seemed to be helping, but I was still sceptical. They did a little flexiscope in the office and on Tuesday we got the results back...NO INFLAMMATION or COLITIS! The best news we've gotten in 2 years! Who would have thought that after 2 years of trying all these different heavy meds and going through all these different tests that a dietary supplement would do the trick! We are so excited and we are hoping that this will last a while.

On Wednesday, we went to an allergist to see if Kaylin still has milk and egg allergies. When we got there, the doctor noticed Kaylin's cough and basically after a series of questions told us that she does indeed have asthma. So we did about 3 breathing treatments at the office to get rid of the wheeze in her lungs and then I have to do them every 4-6 hours for the next day or two. In addition to that she has to be on an inhaled steroid everyday for at least the next month.

So, we are thrilled that the colon problems seemed to be resolved right now, but now there's another thing to deal with. Maybe this is what it means to ENDURE to the end. Oh well, life is full of surprises!

I love the Olympics!

For those that missed this PHENOMENAL race for the 400m relay Men's Swimming, check out this video. I watched it this morning at 4:45 AM (Phil was up getting ready and I was up with baby)

Kaylin says the darndest things...

Last night I was playing with Kaylin and Zachary on the floor with these cool new foam ABC puzzle pieces that Zachary got for his birthday. So I wasn't paying attention and all the sudden Kaylin says "Look, F you on Brother's Head" and I said, "What did you say?" (Now this is the time that I start running through my mind all the shows that I've been watching and where she could've picked up that awful line. Also note that she said the letter F, not the cuss word.) It was then that I realized she had put the foam letter "F" on Zachary's head and was pointing that out to me. Phew!

Today I finished two piano lessons and when the students left, I went to grab an Oreo cookie (the yummy mint kind). Much to my dismay, Kaylin had finished the last one while I was in lessons. I told her that I was so sad. She looked at me and stroked my face and said, "It's ok my dear, don't be sad." It was hillarious. She calls me "my dear" and "my child" alot and I don't use those phrases at all. She's a cutie pie.

Baby's 1st steps-- well that we got on camera!

ABC Book

After about 8 months of putting off this project, I finally finished (aren't you proud April!) I put together a gospel ABC book for my kids to take to church and hopefully inspire some reverence. I got the idea from my friend April who got the idea from another friend. Anyways, here's some pictures of the finished project.

The Twilight Series has ended with a bang!

Breaking Dawn (Twilight Series, Book 4) Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer

My review

rating: 5 of 5 stars
WOW WOW WOW!!!! I loved this book. I loved how the author ended this series. There were twists and turns and unexpected surprises. It was full of them. I can't think of anything left to say that won't give the book away. A wonderful book start to finish. Finished it in two days.
