1 Tbsp of Borax
1 Tbsp of washing soda
Use vinegar in place of jet dry to prevent spotting on your dishes.
Easy peasy! I used this today and honestly could not tell a difference between my electrosol tablets and this. It ends up being about 4 cents a load.

Thanks for this post! In Spokane they have a city ordinance that bans "powder" dish washing soap. (They don't even sell it in stores--people drive across the ID border to buy it!) Since we heard the liquid stuff doesn't do the job, we officially became boot leggers and stocked up on the powder stuff before we moved here. As I watch my supply dwindling, it makes me nervous! I'll have to try out this creation.
Great! I saw this on a web site the other day. Do you mix it and let it sit and then just spoon some out, or do you mix it in the soap holder of the dishwasher?
